Apple iTunes 4.9 is on the street via both Apple Software Update and the iTunes web site.
Podcast catching support is likely to be ranked “great… what is Podcasting again?” by most podcast newbies, but lack of ability for podcasters already mysteriously added to the iTunes Music Store to edit their feed entries (e-mail, website, etc) leaves me wondering: is this America, or America: F**k Yeah! ?
The iTunes Chapter Tool (beta) for creating chapter-based AAC podcasts. Not an easy link to find. We’ll see how static it is. omg, it’s a CLI tool… greatness? horror?
Anyway, starting from ground zero for those who don’t know, the shortest definition of a “podcast” that I can think of is an “audio blog”, although that leaves a lot of nuance out.
Another definition might be “a broad combination of professional and amateur radio-show-type-things freely available to download via the internet, and load onto either your computer, or a portable media player, such as an iPod”. In this way, podcasting is often referred to as “TiVo for radio”, but that also loses some of the truth.
A great podcast I listen to as often as possible is the Good Beer Show, which can be found here. Honest reviews of good beer. Check them out. Both the blog and the podcast are worth your time.

It would appear that the ability to control categorization / metadata / email / etc is all done through Apple-specific XML/RSS tags, which Apple has published a spec on, as well as deliver a beta tool for doing AAC bookmarklets/graphics/links.

Multiple attempts to add a known validated RSS feed, using Apple’s XML extensions for iTMS, continue to return “We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later.”
APPLE = ON THE MARCH!

As of this hour, new attempts to add feeds to iTMS doesn’t check for a valid Apple ID, but just directs to “we’ve having technical difficulties”. We’ll stay with this story as long as we have to.

These degenerates have clearly mastered the afore-mentioned ChapterTool. Filth. Cover your ears – just look at the sweet, sweet pictures as they roll inline with the audio, which you’re not listening to:
