Bruno Kirby packs it in at 57

A damned shame to see a great go so young. He did it his way.
Also a shame that the obit fails to mention BK’s bit in This is Spinal Tap, undoubtedly his greatest role.

I feel Sir Guests’ movies, on a three-film arc (Guffman, Best in Show, Mighty Wind) are getting less funny.
Or perhaps being found funny by a more selective audience.
Perhaps the comedy is evolving… right out my ability to perceive the comedy as funny. Kind of like we can’t see infrared or ultraviolet light, even though it’s there.
Perhaps he’s intentionally making them less funny, in the interest of making the ultimate “meta-comedy”: a completely unfunny comedy that is not directed by Woody Allen.

For some reason I was really saddened by the news of Bruno’s death. I really liked him as an actor. He was a great young Clemenza.
